Project Description

R.J. Burnside & Associates retained Palmer to conduct geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeological investigations, including preliminary excess soil planning requirements, for the purpose of informing the design and construction phases of a watermains and wastewater mains constructed through micro-tunneling and open-cut excavations in Georgetown, Ontario.

Our geotechnical interpretations and baseline reports for the project included recommendations informing the design of the watermain and wastewater main. A preliminary excess soil characterization was completed during the geotechnical drilling program to aid planning for the roughly 179,000 cubic metres of soil expected to be excavated or tunnelled during construction.

Additionally, a hydrogeological study was conducted to mitigate and manage risks related to water well impacts and to ensure dewatering rate estimates were in line with with actual construction-related risks to groundwater.
